Thomastown East Primary School is located in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. It’s student population is drawn from a wide range of cultural and socio economic backgrounds.
Thomastown East prides itself on being “small enough to care and big enough to challenge”.
Once a large school of over 700 students the school’s enrolments have declined to a current enrolment of 141 students. The school is housed in two main LTC air conditioned buildings. In addition to the classrooms, there is a multi- purpose hall, library, art/craft & music rooms, a canteen, reading recovery room and literacy withdrawal area. ICT is incorporated across all classrooms including Smartboards in every classroom. Federal and State grants enabled the school to complete building maintenance projects and refurbish the student toilet areas. Students are provided with a safe and secure play environment within the boundaries of a high fence. There is a large asphalt area that includes a range of court markings, an adventure playground and grassed areas caters for active and passive recreation.
Thomastown East enjoys strong parental support especially at social and cultural activities and School Council strongly supports the school’s direction. A Junior School Council and a ‘Young Leaders’ program provides leadership opportunities students
