How do you qualify to teach in Victoria?

A legal school teacher requirement is that all teachers who teach in Victoria have current a Victorian Institute of Teachers (VIT) Registration.

Prior to teaching in Victorian schools you must read the Standards of Professional Practice and Code of Ethics for Victorian teachers. The VIT website will allow you to access the above documents and will also give you a step-by-step guide on how to apply for Victoria Teacher Registration, read more details on the VIT. This process includes applying for a current Police Check. Most school Principals will require your Police check to be completed by the VIT.

It can take up to 4 weeks to process your VIT Registration.
